North America

Montreal

The Oblates of the Virgin Mary are present in the East of Montreal at Pointe-aux-Trembles, a french speaking area of the Island, where they animate a Pastoral Unity of three parishes. The community also serves as the chaplain at the Newman Center of McGill University.

South America

Argentina

In 1921, the Oblates began a foundation in Argentina. The Oblates serve in and around the city of Buenos Aires. They serve the people of God the through parishes and schools with particular ministry to the poor. They also have an active ministry of evangelization through retreats, parish missions, promotion of good books, and the running of the largest religious-goods store in Argentina.

Brazil

The Oblates have an active apostolate of evangelization to the poor and most marginalized of Brazil. They minister in over 30 mission stations along the Amazon River. In 1973, The Congregation began a new missionary chapter in its history, accepting a parish near Manaus in the Amazon region of Brazil. This parish serves as a base to serve the poor in the interior. They collaborate with lay people to catechize the people of God, and through the many trade schools they operate, help the people learn a skill that will help them out of their poverty. The Oblates also serve in the city of Sao Paolo and Jundiai where they minister in a variety of chapels that help to serve the needs of the poor.


Europe

Our Generalate, Rome Italy

The General House of the Oblates is located in the heart of Rome near St. Peter's Basilica. This is the central headquarters for the Oblates of the Virgin Mary. Presently, our Rector Major, Fr. Patrice Véraquin, OMV coordinates the works of the Oblates serving throughout the world.

Austria

The Oblates staff a parish in the historical city of Vienna from where they also give parish missions and retreats. The Oblates also staff a retreat center and Marian Shrine located an hour outside of Vienna. The retreat center is an old monastery built in the 12th century. The Oblates give the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and welcome pilgrims from all over Austria and parts of Europe.

France

The Oblates own and staff a university residence outside the city of Paris where they provide for the spiritual needs and challenges of the students. They give spiritual direction, catechize and provide retreats. In the city of Nice, the Oblates run the largest religious magazine in France along with staffing the well known Church of St. Rita. Here they serve as spiritual directors and have an active retreat ministry for diocesan priests, as well as laymen and women.

Italy

The Oblates serve in various parishes, spiritual and retreat centers throughout the country where they provide for the spiritual needs of the people in the spirit of Fr. Lanteri.


Africa

Nigeria

In 1997, the Oblates began a new foundation in Nigeria, Africa. They opened up a seminary located in the city of Suleja. They presently have twenty four students in formation and in recent years have begun a media apostolate which includes a magazine. They also teach in the local seminary as well as give retreats and spiritual direction.


Cebu, The Philippines

Oblates of the Virgin Mary Formation and Retreat Center

The Oblates established a foundation in Cebu, The Philippines, in 1997. In February, the seminary and Mother of Mercy Chapel was dedicated. The mission of the Center is to form men for the priesthood and to serve the spiritual needs of the people of the Philippines and Asia.
