Our Mission

Inspired by the love of Christ and inflamed with the spirit of an apostle, our founder, Venerable Pio Bruno Lanteri, founded the Congregation of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary in 1826. Fr. Lanteri lived in a world, like our own, with spiritual and moral confusion. He taught his Oblates to examine attentively the "signs of the times," in order to guide men and women to find the answers they seek in Christ.

Called by the Holy Spirit to seek God alone, and in imitation of Christ, we unite ourselves to his mission through vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. In every action, we always have Jesus Christ before our eyes as our companion and model who said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through me."
