Signs of an OMV Vocation

The Oblates of the Virgin Mary are serious about seeking holiness. Centered on the Eucharist, devoted to Mary and faithful to the Magisterium, the Oblates serve the Church as teachers of authentic spirituality and heralds of the mercy of God. The qualities and signs of an Oblate vocation that we are looking for in a man who feels called to religious life and priesthood are:

  • Serious desire to become a saint
  • Loving relationship with the Blessed Virgin Mary
  • Fidelity to the Holy Father and the Magisterium of the Church
  • Humble spirit of sacrifice and zeal for souls
  • Desire for contemplative prayer and silence
  • Capacity for friendship and community life
  • Confident masculine identity and integrity
  • Heart open to obedience and capable of effective teamwork
  • Generous spirit of service
  • Potential for genuine empathy, spiritual fatherhood and discernment
  • Physical and mental health necessary for work and study
  • Solid foundation in human experience and maturity
