Where We Serve

United States Province

On September 12, 1976, the Oblates of the Virgin Mary opened the first house in the United States at St. Clement's Eucharistic Shrine in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1978, the Oblates began Our Lady of Grace Seminary where men are formed to become priests and brothers. In the years following, they opened houses in Illinois, California and Colorado.

St. Clement's Eucharistic Shrine/Our Lady of Grace Seminary

St. Clement's Eucharistic Shrine and Our Lady of Grace Seminary lie in the heart of Boston's Back Bay. The Shrine is a vibrant spiritual center for students, young adults, professional men and women, local residents and visitors to the city. In addition to daily Mass, the Shrine offers Eucharistic Adoration, young adult retreats, Bible study, individual counseling and spiritual direction and speakers on diverse religious topics.

St. Francis Chapel

Located inside Boston's Prudential Center mall, the St. Francis Chapel is a spiritual oasis for many residents, workers and visitors. St. Francis Chapel has been a part of the Prudential Center complex since it was built in 1969. Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Boston, St. Francis Chapel has been staffed by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary since 1982. Conveniently located near the Hynes Convention Center, St. Francis Chapel provides a place for quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and a full schedule of daily Masses and confessions.

St. Joseph's Retreat House

Originally serving as a house of theology for seminarians, in January 2007, St. Joseph's Retreat House opened as a center for retreats, days of recollections, spiritual direction and counseling for priests, religious sisters and brothers and lay men and women. In addition, St. Joseph's is the central office for the Oblate Parish Mission and Retreat Team.

Alton, Illinois

St. Mary's Church

On the banks of the Mississippi River, St. Mary's Church in Alton, Illinois is a thriving and vibrant parish community staffed by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary. The Oblates were invited to the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois in the early 1980s.

Hawaiian Gardens, California

St. Peter Chanel Church

In the 1980s, at the request of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the Oblates were invited to staff the newly- created parish of St. Peter Chanel. In a short period of time, the Oblates have developed an active community of worship which serves a growing Hispanic and Filipino population. In addition to the daily and weekend Masses, confessions are available every day and there is daily Eucharistic Adoration. There are also retreats offered on a quarterly basis.

Denver, Colorado

Holy Ghost Church

At the invitation of the Archbishop of Denver, the Oblates arrived during the summer of 2001. Holy Ghost is an exceptionally beautiful church with a rich history of service to the poor and the homeless. In addition to the day-to-day parish responsibilities, the Oblates of the Virgin Mary provide spiritual direction, daily confession, Eucharistic Adoration and assistance at nearby Children's Hospital.

Lanteri Center for Ignatian Spirituality

The Lanteri Center, established by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary in 2004, exists to make spiritual direction, daily prayer with Scripture, and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius more available to those who seek holiness. The Lanteri Center also provides training and continuing education opportunities for spiritual directors and those who feel called to serve in this ministry.

Cebu, The Philippines

Oblates of the Virgin Mary Formation and Retreat Center

The Oblates established a foundation in Cebu, The Philippines, in 1997. In February, the seminary and Mother of Mercy Chapel was dedicated. The mission of the Center is to form men for the priesthood and to serve the spiritual needs of the people of the Philippines and Asia.
