“You are My Mother, the Mother of Mercy, and the consolation of the souls in Purgatory.” –Saint Bridget to our Lady

Prayer for the Faithful at St. Francis Chapel

O Mother of Jesus, whose intercession strengthens the Church, conserve, increase and make fruitful this congregation at St. Francis Chapel. O Mary, you care for the brethren of your Son with a mother’s love; watch with maternal charity over all who rejoice today to be part of this family. Sustain our priests in their apostolate, protect travelers on their journeys, guide students who seek truth, heal the sick and afflicted, and be a bulwark for all the faithful who gather at this chapel in living out their vocations at home and in the marketplace. Blessed Mother, who have already reached the perfection of grace, mercifully pray for us that by the merits of your Son we shall increase in faith, hope and love till the consummation of heaven. Amen.

Speaking of the holiness of Mary, Ven. Bruno Lanteri states:

Do we actually want to form some idea of this great sanctity? As soon the Virgin Mary began to exist, she began to be Holy, (that does not happen to any other person).

It is also noted that from the first moment of her being, the Virgin Mary was not only holy but Most Holy, (Santissima), because her sanctity is greater than the sanctity of any other Saint on earth, more than any Cherubim or Seraphim. She is more endowed with gifts, Grace, virtues, and perfections than any of them.  Her excellence exceeded anyone’s excellence, she loved God more, and was loved by God more than anyone. She is, in essence, the most united to God. She is the more similar to God than the most beautiful, most perfect creature in heaven.
