O, Jesus, you descended in the fullness of time from the royal throne; O you who are most desired of all. You came from the height of heaven to visit us, and we are overwhelmed with joy, for as soon as the eternal Father had seen you born in our flesh, he made the angels proclaim peace and grace to all of good will. Freeing us from all misery, the Father gave us his kingdom and filled us with all your good. Make our hearts open and able to hold so great a treasure. Amen.
Fruit of the Spirit: Self-Control
Scripture: Proverbs 16:32
He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
Action for the Day: God has created all things with measure. Biblically, to be righteous is to be in accord with God’s measure. Self-control is being measured in our actions; responding, not reacting to events. The Spirit of self-control is especially needed on a night like this when the temptations to loose control and celebrate without measure are manifold. Remember self-control today and maintain the Spirit of Christmas and the fruits of righteousness.
