Learning how to become an Oblate is the first step in an eight-year journey, where you’ll be part of our community, study at Our Lady of Grace seminary, and work in our ministries.

LIVE A LIFE OF SERVICE

How to Become an Oblate of the Virgin Mary

Oblates of the Virgin Mary formation includes intense study, spiritual direction, and hands-on work in our ministries.

Postulancy

During the first two years, you’ll study the meaning of vows and explore if this life is right for you. You’ll pursue a degree in philosophy and liberal arts.

Novitiate

You’ll undergo a year of intense spiritual maturation to prepare for religious profession, engaging in prayer, study of religious life and the Oblate charism.

Theologate

For 5 years, you’ll study theology and prepare for final profession and ordination. Summers and a pastoral year allow you to live and work with other Oblates.
