About Fr. Jonathon Hank
Fr. Jonathon is from Corcoran, MN, a small suburb of Minneapolis. The first of three children, Fr. Jonathon earned his B.S. in Physics and Mathematics in 2015 from the University of Minnesota, where he was active in Saint Paul’s Outreach. He enjoys camping, hiking, board games, and the occasional math problem.
He first heard of the Oblates when reading Fr. Tim Gallagher’s “Discernment of Spirits,” and was recommended to them by the campus minister at his university. Fr. Jonathon began his first year of postulancy in September 2016, entered the novitiate in August 2018, professed his first vows in August 2019, and professed his final vows in May 2023.
“Excited, grateful, humbled… These are a few of the feelings swirling around in my heart as I look forward to my priestly ordination. I am humbled that Jesus has chosen me to be His priest, grateful to God and to all who have supported me on my journey to this point, and excited to be able to serve all of you as a priest.
Please pray that the Lord grant me a share in His own Sacred Heart, so that I may carry out this ministry faithfully and fruitfully. God bless you all!”

About Fr. Jorge Sanchez
The second of three children, Fr. Jorge was born in Fullerton, CA. Before joining the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, he earned his AA degree in Film from Cerritos College and worked as an assistant on some film shoots. A man who enjoys editing and writing scripts for films, Fr. Jorge counts Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock, and Christopher Nolan among his favorite directors.
He first heard of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary through his godparents, who were married at the OMV parish of St. Peter Chanel in Hawaiian Gardens, CA. Fr. Jorge entered the seminary in September 2016, entered the novitiate in August 2018, professed his first vows in August 2019, and professed his final vows in May 2023.
“Being ordained a priest for the Oblates of the Virgin Mary is a profound honor and a deeply spiritual journey. This sacred calling allows me to serve God and our community with love and dedication. I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering support and guidance from the entire OMV family, whose faith and encouragement have been instrumental in this journey.
I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all who have supported me both financially and spiritually. Your generosity and prayers have made this moment possible. Following in the footsteps of our founder, Venerable Bruno Lanteri, I am committed to living a life of hope and holiness. Thank you for walking this path with me.”

First Mass
On July 28th, the day after their ordinations, Fr. Jonathan and Fr. Jorge celebrated their First Masses of Thanksgiving at St. Peter Chanel Church in Hawaiian Gardens, California. Fr. Jorge celebrated Mass at 8 a.m. in English and 10 a.m. in Spanish. Fr. Jonathan celebrated Mass at 12 p.m. in English.
“I have asked the Lord to give you great courage and firm hope in God.” Say then with boldness, “Now I begin,” and go forward constantly in God’s service. Do not look back so often, because one who looks back cannot run. And do not be content to begin only for this year. Begin every day, because it is for every day, even for every hour of the day, that the Lord taught us to say in the Our Father, Forgive us our trespasses, and Give us this day our daily bread.”
Venerable Bruno Lanteri, Founder of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary
