Hawaiian Gardens, California

In the 1980s, the Archbishop of Los Angeles invited the Oblates to bring their charism to the newly-created parish of St. Peter Chanel in Hawaiian Gardens.  Under the Oblates’ spiritual leadership, the parish quickly grew to serve the sacramental needs of people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds.  With Masses in English, Spanish, and Italian, the parish ministers to over 8,000 people every weekend.  Lines form daily at the parish for the Sacrament of Penance, catechism classes, and ministry to the poor.
