Each year as Father’s Day approaches, many of us take time to reflect on the love, guidance, and sacrifice we’ve received from our earthly fathers. Whether we’re blessed with fond memories or carry the burden of difficult experiences, this day can stir something deep in our hearts.
This Father’s Day, no matter your feelings on the day, we challenge you to include our Lord in your celebrations. Father’s Day is a time to honor fatherhood, but it’s also an opportunity to turn our gaze to God, our Heavenly Father.
Happy Father’s Day, God! The day is one more opportunity to thank Him for all of the blessings He’s given us and to strengthen our relationship with and commitment to the Lord.
Happy Father’s Day, God!
While we honor Mary, our Mother, on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day is for our Lord and Savior. Our founder, Venerable Bruno Lanteri, spoke often of his relationship with God, as a loving father and son relationship.
“I beg you with all the energy of my heart not to be afraid of your past failings, but rather to let the memory of them lead you to a great self-knowledge and humility before the Lord and, at the same time, encourage you to trust all the more in our heavenly Father, who is always so ready to welcome, forgive, and help us.” — Venerable Bruno Lanteri
Our Father is merciful, He is loving, and He is and always will be here for you.
Renew Your Commitment to God
This Father’s Day, renew your commitment to God and reflect on your relationship with Him. One simple way to do this is to pray the Lord’s prayer, the very prayer that Jesus taught when one of his disciples requested, “Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1).
“Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
It’s a simple and strong staple prayer to say every single day, as a way to strengthen your bond with Our Father through daily prayer.
A Time for Trust and Healing
Perhaps this Father’s Day, as we thank and pray for our earthly fathers, we can also take that step to renew our trust in the love and mercy of our Heavenly Father. He is never absent, never passive. He is always near—patient, kind, and infinitely generous. He corrects us not out of anger, but to guide us toward fullness of life. He rejoices in our smallest acts of love. When we stumble, He lifts us up with compassion.
If this day is difficult for you—perhaps due to loss, estrangement, or wounds from the past—know that God the Father longs to heal what is broken. His love is not just a replacement for what we lack; it is the eternal reality that fulfills the deepest desires of our hearts.

Thank you for this lovely meditation on the fatherhood of God. You express your thoughts on the love of God in such beautiful way
I like to think that my own earthly father is with God in heaven and continue to pray that this be the case.
He was a man of such simple goodness and devotion.
Happy Fathers’ Day to you also and to all your Oblate confreres who continually show us the love of the Father.
